IASPRR Wall of Species 24.11.2019 << back

IASPRR Wall of Species

Members of the IASPRR explore all the different aspects of sexual plant reproduction by using many different working species. Apart from Arabidopsis thaliana, many reproductive studies are focused on several crops like maize (Zea mays), rice (Oryza sativa), wheat (Triticum aestivum) or barley (Hordeum vulgare). Additionally, other species like poppy (Papaver rhoeas), rapeseed (Brassica napus), tobacco (Nicotiana tabacum) or even more primitive ones like the basal angiosperm Amborella trichopoda or the livewort Marchantia polymorpha are also used to gain insights into the fascinating process of sexual plant reproduction.

Just in the last 25th IASPRR conference celebrated in Japan, research projects on a total of 45 plant species were reported. Therefore, with this initiative our members have the possibility to provide the name and an original picture of their working plants in our “Wall of Species” to raise public awareness about the variety of research plants species used in this field and to promote contact between members undertaking research in the same plant.

If you are a member and your plant is not yet in the wall, feel free to contact us and we will include it!
