Sexual Plant Reproduction
Published 4 issues per year by Springer-Verlag, ISSN 0934-0882
Aims and Scope of the Journal:
The journal covers the dynamics and mechanisms of sexual processes in all plants, including seed and non-seed plants.
The following topics are included:
- meiotic mechanisms
- differentiation of plant sexual expression
- male and female gametogenesis, and their related gene expression
- self-incompatibility, self-incongruity and mechanisms of their regulation
- pollen-stigma interaction and mechanisms of gamete attraction and fusion
- fertilization mechanisms, gamete recognition and fusion mechanisms
- control of early embryogenesis
- barriers to hybridization of widley separated taxa
- apomixis and other mechanisms of asexual reproduction based on reproductive organs
- control of sexuality via sterility and gametocides
- biotechnological applications in sexual reproduction
Principal emphasis is placed on the experimental approaches using biochemical, molecular, biophysical and immunological methods. Descriptive reports providing new insights on sexual reproduction based on submicroscopic and cytochemical methods are also encouraged. The journal will consider original contributions, short communications, contemporary reviews and commentaries on subjects interesting to the community of sexual plant reproduction researchers.
